Pollution Prevention

Our partnership with the K-State Pollution Prevention Institute (PPI) strives to give manufacturers and companies the resources and guides needed to make the best decisions and practices to prevent pollution throughout the region. Discover the programs and tools below that can assist with pollution prevention for your company and industry.

Pollution Prevention Intern program

Does your company have sustainability goals, want to explore pollution prevention opportunities, but lack time and capital to meet those needs? A Pollution Prevention Intern can give your company an environmental jump-start.

This summer internship program is designed to link engineering and environmental science students with business and industry. The intern's research projects lead to higher operating efficiency, decreased regulatory compliance burdens, and smaller environmental footprints for their host companies.

Students begin their internship with a week of training from PPI technical advisors and then for 10 weeks with their on-site supervisor. This hands-on experience allows students to apply pollution prevention strategies to solve environmental management challenges and to add value to company operations too.

Businesses gain well-developed, specific options that benefit the company bottom line and the Kansas environment through projects that target:

  • Energy and Water Use
  • Toxic Chemicals
  • Air Emissions
  • Hazardous and Solid Wastes
  • Employee Risks

Check back for dates to apply! View the FAQs for more details.
