Our partnership with the K-State Pollution Prevention Institute (PPI) strives to give manufacturers and companies the resources and guides needed to make the best decisions and practices to prevent pollution throughout the region. Does your company have sustainability goals, want to explore pollution prevention opportunities, but lack time and capital to meet those needs? A Pollution Prevention Intern can give your company an environmental jump-start.
This summer internship program is designed to link engineering and environmental science students with business and industry. The intern's research projects lead to higher operating efficiency, decreased regulatory compliance burdens, and smaller environmental footprints for their host companies.
Students begin their internship with a week of training from PPI technical advisors and then for 10 weeks with their on-site supervisor. This hands-on experience allows students to apply pollution prevention strategies to solve environmental management challenges and to add value to company operations too.

The SBEAP provides free confidential environmental compliance assistance to small businesses in Kansas. Through their hotline, email, and/or on-site visits, businesses can share their concerns and ask questions related to industry air quality and permitting, hazardous waste, storm-water, storage tanks, and other select topics. PPI provides technical assistance through site visits for all Kansas businesses.
